Prevent Diaper Rashes Before They Even Happen

As moms, we try our best to provide the best care for our babies. Sometimes, taking preventative measures is the best way to care for our babies (and ourselves!). That is why I'd like to talk to you about how to prevent diaper rashes before they even happen.

There are many products on the market to soothe baby's skin after the rash occurs but how about preventing it?  Take the following steps every time you change your baby and I assure you (from personal experience) that you can prevent diaper rashes with your baby too.

  • Change your baby's diaper often - this is not the time to pinch pennies.
  • Rinse your baby's bottom with clean, warm water with a cotton ball or washcloth. This is better than using wipes that can irritate the skin.
  • Use a clean towel to pat baby's bottom dry - or better yet, let air dry.
  • Use the right size diapers - small diapers prevent airflow
  • Use a diaper barrier ointment after every diaper change or at least when you know your baby may be exposed to moisture for a long time, like at night.
    • I used Pinxav on my babies, it has zinc oxide in it which is proven to keep skin clear
  • Wash your hands and clean up the diapering area

If you take these simple and effective steps every time you change your baby's diaper, you are sure to prevent diaper rashes before they even happen.
