Easy Ways to Serve With Your Kids in 15 Minutes or Less!

I’m a firm believer in teaching my kids to serve others.  It’s not always easy, though, because we all know how busy you are when your toddlers seem to be running in circles around you... not to mention lack of energy!

I wanted to include my daughters in service, even though they are young, but for the longest time I couldn’t think of any ideas... especially ideas we could squeeze into our busy schedule!  But guess what!?  I’ve realized that serving with your kids does not have to take a lot of time.  In fact, there are several ideas on how you can serve that all take about 15 minutes or less.  Now that sounds manageable, right?!

-Hold open a door for someone

-Go to the park on a mission - ask your kids to make sure every child at the playground has someone to play with

-Help someone carry something

-Take an extra zucchini from your garden to your neighbor

-Clean out your closet and donate the items to charity

-Let the person in line behind you go ahead of you (especially if they have 1 item or young kids with them)

-Scrape your neighbors windshield

-Smile at a stranger

-Pack an extra granola bar or banana to give to the next homeless person you see next time you’re going downtown

-Have your child draw a picture, or write a thank you card & throw it in the mail

-Clean up trash at the park, then play of course!

We all know it feels just as good to receive service as to give it, so why not pay it forward & give it a try?  It might just make your day a better one!
